This is a new Geolocation Tracking Feature for use with smart phones which are GPS enabled. This allows you to track your position relative to the route.
This should only be used as an aid to navigation as a good strong signal is not always available in remote areas.
This feature also tends to drain battery charge quicker when in constant use, so should be used sparingly.
You should use the guide book or map, with a compass, for primary navigation.
